ADOPT A SCHOOL CHILD PROGRAMME;- REVIEW OF SPONSORSHIP FEE

Adopt a School Child Programme (ASCP), educational support programme introduced by Child Development and Concern Foundation (CDCF) in 2013 to assist indigent public school children to acquire quality education is growing stronger and recording successes each year.

The beneficiaries who reside with their parents/guardian are each year assisted with text books, exercise books, two pairs of school uniform, a pair of school sandals with socks, school bag and various school levies. This is to ensure they remain in school without distractions. They are also enjoying psychosocial support of monitoring, mentoring and counseling.

This is made possible with the support of all our donors who have adopted these children and paying for their school needs. The donors support has succeeded in keeping some indigent children in school and preparing them for brighter future. I pray God Almighty will continue to bless them.

In view of change of government in Oyo State and the new government’s policy to make education more accessible to all, it has scrapped in all public primary schools the following payment;

  • Examination fee –     #300
  • PTA Levy            –      # 600
  • Development Levy – # 600

This has reduced the cost of sponsorship of primary school child from #28,980 to #27,420 per academic session with effect from 2019/20 academic session.

In all public secondary schools, the payments below are also scrapped;

  • Education levy ……………..#3000
  • Examination fee …………    #750

The policy of government to provide text books for only the core subjects  has began in secondary schools and this has brought about reduction in ASCP cost of  text books for secondary schools’ beneficiaries which would be used to provide text books for other subjects. The cost of sponsorship of a secondary school child has also reduced from #41,112.50 to #32,362.50 per academic session with effect from 2019/20 academic session.

To all our esteemed donors and sponsors of Adopt a School Child Programme (ASCP), being benefited by brilliant but indigent public school children, we say thank you for your support and looking forward to more years with you of preparing our children for brighter future.
